A lesson in faith

Today the girls and I were outside playing in the driveway. I was sitting in a beach chair and noticed a caterpillar right next to me. It looked half dead (some of its guts were out already) but I still pointed it out to the girls. They said, "Ya, we already saw it. I think we ran it over". I poked it a few times to see if maybe there was a chance it would still be alive and it was motionless. Nevertheless, we all sat and stared at it for a while and just enjoyed the fact that we had found it (it is always cool to find fun bugs). Suddenly Dolly says, "We should pray for it. If we take it to the doctor, it will take long for it to get better. But if we pray for it, God can heal it right now." I was so amazed at her great faith and really didn't know how to respond. So, honestly doubting that God would heal the caterpillar and not wanting the kids to be disappointed I said, "You are right! God can do it right now. He may not want the caterpillar to live again; it may not be His will. But if it is His will he can do it. Let's pray and see what happens." So, they all bowed and said a prayer -- Mia even laid a finger on it and with much conviction said, "Jesus!". I thought it was cute and was sort of laughing at the whole thing. Little did I know that God was about to give me a great lesson in faith. When they were done praying, Dolly lifted up her head and said, "I prayed!" and immediately turned to look at the caterpillar, not doubting for a minute that it would be healed. Almost immediately the caterpillar began to wiggle and crawl as if it had been alive the whole time!! The girls and I cheered and praised God for the healing/resurrection of the caterpillar. The thing is, I was the one that was most shocked and astonished that God would or could do something like that even though I know in my mind that He can do anything! It taught me that I must put my faith into practice everyday in everything and God can and will answer. Dolly, on the other hand, simply said, "I told you God would heal him!". I am beginning to understand what Jesus meant when he said, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:2. So my prayer today is that God give me faith like I child and that I never forget how He healed that little caterpillar on our driveway.

It has been 2 years!

Well, it has been two years since I last posted on here and I thought it was about time to start this up again, for myself, my family, and close friends. It is hard to believe that Mia is two already but we just celebrated her second birthday last week! She is growing up to be an adorable and hilarious little lady. Dolly says that "Mia is the funny one in our family" and I have to agree. She keeps everyone looking at the bright side of things and definitely keeps us laughing. Dalia also turned four this month and we celebrated in Palm Springs with our family and her Sunday School friends and their parents (it was all her idea, by the way). She is developing to be and incredibly creative and confident girl, who may be too smart and crafty for her own good sometimes! She definitely keeps Leo and I on our toes and constantly reevaluating our parenting. Sophia is going to be 6 in November and growing up fast. She continues to be disciplined and organized

Funny story

Fun at Grandma Acosta's I love my daddy My baby is as big as me! Sisters Yesterday we were rushing to get ready for church. I was trying to get the girls dressed to I could go get ready. Sophia was rolling on the floor and just not paying attention to me. I asked her to go get her dress and come so I could put it on her. She brought me the hanger and laughed and was just not really into getting ready. I kind of snapped at her and told her to hurry up and stop messing around or else we were going to be late. She slowly turns to me and says, "Mom, you have to be patient with me." I couldn't help but laugh and apologize for rushing her.
